LJUBLJANA, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- Snow continued to fall in most of Slovenia throughout Saturday, causing disruptions to electricity supply, road traffic, and most of the skiers.

The heavy snow had broken the electricity supply to nearly 3,500 households in the Kocevje area in southern part of the country, said power supplier Elektro Ljubljana, describing that about 26 centimetres of snow fell during the night alone after 33 centimetres fell on Friday.

The Primorska region in western Slovenia also faced strong bora wind on Saturday, and more than 1,800 households have lost electricity, according to Slovenian Press Agency STA.

The snow, started from Friday morning and now slowly abating, is rather heavy, causing a lot of work for fire brigades and road maintenance crews, which had to clear fallen trees from the roads.

Some ski resorts in the country, due to the possible avalanches on the roads leading to the ski slopes, had to stay closed, said the STA report.

The risk of avalanches remains very high and police have issued yet another warning in an attempt to deter daredevil ski tourers from heading out on Saturday.

According to the Slovenian national weather forecasting authorities, the snow is likely to stop and it is going to turn to cloudy in the following days.
