PYEONGCHANG, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- Short track speed skater Elsie Christie of Great Britain says that she aims to win two medals, including one gold, at the upcoming PyeongChang Olympic Games after recovering from the disappointment of receiving three disqualifications at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi.

The 27-year-old winner in the 500m in Seoul in the World Cup series this season, added that she had recovered from the earlier setbacks.

"My personal redemption was the 2017 world championships. In short track that is the biggest thing you can achieve. I don't think anything in life can beat that. But from an outside point of view, people haven't seen that redemption," she said after training on Wednesday.

Christie won three gold medals in the 1000m, 1500m and overall at the 2017 World Championships in Rotterdam.

"So winning a gold medal would be a thank you to everyone. That's what's kept me going for four years. Everyone stood by me for that bad time in my life, and I would love to take a gold medal back home for them," she added.

She admitted it took her a long time to recover from the disappointment of receiving three disqualifications at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi. She also had to deal with receiving threats on social media, many originating from South Korea as she was blamed for causing pile-ups that affected Korean skaters.

"The main goal is to get two medals, and definitely one gold. I'm happy with silver or bronze if it was everything I had that day, the race went that way and that was all I could do," she said.

"But if I'm in silver medal position with two laps to go, and I attack and get a penalty, I'm happier with that, because I wouldn't have been happy sitting in second place. For me it's about winning gold, but at the same time I know it's short track and it's messy," she added.
