KAMPALA, July 24 (Xinhua) -- Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni will attended the forthcoming Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) summit scheduled to be held in September in Beijing, China, a top official said on Tuesday.

Henry Oryem Okello, minister of state for international affairs, told Xinhua in an interview that preparations are being made to arrange the visit.

"Yes, it is finalized. I can confirm that he (Museveni) will be in China for FOCAC. We are now going into preparations," Okello said.

Museveni will join other African leaders as they forge new ways of strengthening the China-Africa cooperation.

Zheng Zhuqiang, Chinese ambassador to Uganda, last month told reporters that during the summit, new cooperation measures will be announced bringing an era of historic opportunities.

"I hope both our governments seize the historical opportunity and create a new era for China-Uganda cooperation," Zheng said.

Uganda says it is already benefiting from the 10 cooperation plans announced by Chinese President Xi Jinping during the FOCAC Johannesburg Summit in December 2015.

The plans cover the areas of industrialization, agricultural modernization, infrastructure, financial services, green development, trade and investment facilitation, poverty reduction and public welfare, public health, people-to-people exchanges, and peace and security.

China is financing among other projects the construction of Uganda's 600MW Karuma Hydro Power Plant and the 183MW Isimba Hydro Power Plant.

The Asian country is also financing the expansion of Uganda's Entebbe International Airport, the country's gateway to the rest of the world.
