YANGON, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- The Advisory Board to the Committee for Implementation of the Recommendations on Myanmar's Rakhine state has submitted its final report to State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi, a statement said Thursday.

The advisory board, chaired by Professor Surakiart Sathirathai, was formed with experts from home and abroad in December last year to assist the committee for the implementation of the final report of the Advisory Commission led by former UN chief Kofi Annan and the Maungtaw Investigation Commission.

Some members of the advisory board will remain engaged with the issues which are in progress including the inter-communal dialogue, the pilot project for a model township and assistance to the health sector in Rakhine state, the statement said.

Also, work relating to repatriation and resettlement is still left to be done, it added.

While working for the report, some extensive discussions with various interlocutors including local people on the ground in the western Rakhine state, government representatives and international communities were done.

The statement said the advisory board was pleased to see the improvement in cooperation between Myanmar government and the international community.

On June 6, Myanmar's Labour, Immigration and Population Ministry, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to assist Myanmar government's repatriation process of displaced persons from Rakhine state.

The Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army extremist terrorists launched attacks on police outposts in Rakhine State on Aug. 23 last year, displacing a vast number of residents to areas bordering with Bangladesh.
