SAO PAULO, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- Brazil's meat exporters are looking to convince China of their rigorous sanitary standards in a bid to boost sales, a Brazilian export industry leader said Tuesday.

"China is a great partner whose expectations we want to meet," said Liege Nogueira, executive director of the Brazilian Association of Meat Exporting Industries, during the 2018 Brazil Agribusiness Summit.

Nogueira made the remarks ahead of a planned Nov. 18 visit by Chinese officials to six cold-storage plants, which "undergo the most rigorous inspection in the world."

There is room for China to increase its imports of refrigerated beef from Brazil, Nogueira said, adding that she hoped the incoming government of President-elect Jair Bolsonaro will continue to expand trade ties with the Asian country.

"I hope they continue to open markets in 2019, under the new administration," the industry expert said.

During the summit, vice President of agribusiness at the state-run Bank of Brazil Tarcisio Hubner also called on meat producers "to learn about China and what China needs."

"We are at a good juncture for exporting," Hubner told industry leaders attending the event.
