  • Yemen's Houthis say Saudi Aramco's sites "still in sights"

SANAA, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- Yemen's Houthi rebels on Monday warned that the attacked sites of Saudi Arabian national energy giant Aramco are still in their "sights."

"We warn companies and foreigners to stay away from Aramco plants that we struck because they are still in our sights and could be hit at any time," Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sarea said in a statement reported by the group-controlled Saba news agency.

"We reaffirm to the Saudi regime that our hands can reach any place at any time ... Saudi Arabia should stop its aggression and economic blockade against Yemen," Sarea said.

Saudi Arabia has been leading an Arab military coalition against Iran-allied Houthi rebels in Yemen for more than four years in support of the exiled internationally-recognized government of Yemeni President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

The Houthis have recently stepped up drone attacks on Saudi Arabia, but most of the missile and drone attacks were intercepted by the kingdom's air defense systems.

However, the 10-drone attack on Sept. 14 for which Yemen's Houthi rebels have claimed responsibility, targeted Saudi state-owned oil company Aramco's facilities in Abqaiq in Eastern Province and the Hijrat Khurais oilfield, causing huge fires and halting about half of the supplies from the world's top exporter as well as raising global oil prices.

The attack forced U.S. President Donald Trump to authorize the use of his nation's Strategic Petroleum Reserves, accusing Iran of being behind the attack without showing any evidence, which Iran denied.
